D1 Kids Nursery News

Our Nursery has grown tremendously in 2017! We are so blessed to have so many kiddos & families as a part of our ministry; however, because of our limited space, we have had some safety issues that we need your help in correcting. Below are 4 rules that will be enforced in our Nursery this year. These rules are here to help us maintain a safe & clean childcare area for our kiddos and their families. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Mrs. Kayla.

1. One Parent/Guardian at Drop Off/Pick Up – We have very limited space in & surrounding the nursery. In order to keep this area uncongested, we ask that you only send one person (must be 18 or older) to drop off/pick up your little one (also, make sure the nursery staff knows who will pick up your child – they are not allowed to let kids go with adults they don’t know).

2. Do Not Leave Children Unattended in the Nursery

3. Only Nursery Staff & Scheduled Volunteers are Allowed in the Nursery – This again has to do with space & safety. There is a window in the door where you can look into the nursery to see the babies…please do not open the door unless you are scheduled to serve in there.

4. No Public Bathroom – Yes, there is a bathroom in the nursery; No, it’s not for the entire congregation (Sorry). This bathroom is reserved for Nursery Staff & Potty Training Toddlers. There are many other bathrooms in this church that are open to the congregation. Again, this rule is here for the safety of the kids in the nursery.

These will be posted outside the Nursery by the first of the year & be looking for a bulletin insert/announcement sometime in January.
Thank You for helping us make DFUMC a place where families can feel safe & comfortable!

Notes from the Music Ministry

Many of the Music Ensembles at church have been taking the summer months off, but very soon, we will be resuming all of our music ensembles. If you have been considering joining us, the fall would be a great time to come and start using your musical talents! There are no auditions required for any of our groups. Below is a list of the music ensembles we have and when those group will be resuming:

  • God’s Love Chorus – This choir sings at the 8:15 am worship service. They practice at 7:45 am each Sunday morning and then sing for the 8:15 church service. This group has continued to sing during summer so feel free to join us any Sunday morning at 7:45 am in the choir room.
  • Sanctuary Choir – This choir sings for the 10:30 am worship service. We rehearse each Wednesday night at 7-8pm in the Sanctuary. In addition to singing in the late service each week, this group also presents a Christmas and Easter musical as well as sings for all special services throughout the year. We will resume choir rehearsal on Wednesday night August 2nd at 7pm. We hope you will come and join us.
  • Handbell Ensemble – This group rehearses each Wednesday evening at 6pm-7pm upstairs. We have a four octave Schulmerich Handbell set. The ability to read music is very helpful for this group. If you are interested in joining this group, you will first be assigned as substitute ringer so you can learn the fundamentals of bell ringing and then as an opening occurs, we will place you in a permanent spot. We will begin rehearsals again on Wednesday evening August 16. If you would like to learn more about bells, come and join us then.

Children’s Choirs will also resume in August. Dates and times will be announced soon!
We hope you will join us as we praise God through the ministry of music!!
Thanks!
Chris Greene
